Ontario Investing $851,000 in Hospital Upgrades and Repairs in Strathroy

Nearly $257 million invested to support critical infrastructure upgrades at hospitals and community health-care facilities across the province.

STRATHROY — The Ontario government is continuing to protect local health care by investing $851,000 to upgrade the uninterruptible power supply and sanitary waste piping, as well as replace the inverted roofing system at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. This is part of a broader $257 million investment to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the province. The investment of $851,000 brings the total funding for Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in 2025-2026 to $6,485,292.

Funding is being delivered through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF), helping ensure Ontarians can continue to access the care they need in safe, modern environments.

“Investing in reliable and modern hospital infrastructure is essential to ensuring patients and frontline staff have safe, dependable facilities they can count on,” said Steve Pinsonneault. “This $851,000 investment in Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital will help strengthen critical systems within the hospital and ensure residents across the region continue to receive high-quality care close to home.” said Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.

The HIRF program enables health-care system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs, including upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators. In 2025, the Ontario government increased funding for these programs by 12.3 per cent.

Ontario continues to make historic investments in health care. Over the next 10 years, the province is investing nearly $60 billion on major health infrastructure. This is part of the Ontario government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
