Ontario Government Investing Over $60 Million to Strengthen Local Public Health Services

Chatham-Kent Public Health to Receive $382,633 in One-Time Funding

CHATHAM-KENT, ON — The Ontario government is investing up to $60.09 million in one-time funding to support 29 Public Health Units across the province, helping strengthen local public health programs and services in the 2025–26 fiscal year.

As part of this investment, the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit will receive $382,633 in one-time funding to support local public health initiatives and service delivery priorities that respond to community needs.

“This investment demonstrates our government’s continued commitment to protecting public health and ensuring communities like Chatham-Kent have the resources they need to deliver essential services,” said MPP Trevor Jones, Chatham-Kent-Leamington, the systems are critical to keeping families safe, supporting prevention, and responding to local priorities.”

The funding will support a range of public health initiatives, allowing Public Health Units the flexibility to address pressing needs while maintaining effective service delivery at the local level.

“Our government recognizes the vital role that Public Health Units play in building healthier, more resilient communities,” said MPP Pinsonneault. “This one-time funding will help ensure frontline public health services remain strong and responsive to the needs of residents.”

The one-time funding is intended to support local priorities while reinforcing the province’s broader commitment to public health outcomes.
